These Methylene Blue Max Capsules are formulated with Acerola cherry, which is naturally high in Vitamin C. It is a powerful pairing, and the Vitamin C content also helps the MB dissolve and absorb well in your system.
Methylene Blue and Vitamin C have an interesting chemistry together, a kind of give and take at the molecular level. Ascorbic acid is the reduced form of Vitamin C. The dark blue methylene dye, on the other hand, is an oxidized form. Combine the two and you get a clear liquid form called leukoMethylene Blue. Antioxidants are molecules that, as the saying goes, put out the fire of oxidation, and both of these ingredients are commonly taken for their antioxidant content.
How it Works
The brain is composed primarily of neurons, each having as many as 100,000 mitochondria. There is a complex biochemical pathway on the mitochondria’s inner membranes called the electron transport chain. Electrons are shuttled down the transport chain through three complexes and then are rapidly released into the ATP-forming fourth complex. ATP is the molecule that carries usable energy to our cells.
Methylene Blue passes through the blood-brain barrier and is taken up by brain cells. Researchers describe it as an electron cycler, and laboratory work has reported that it can support mitochondrial ATP production and may help moderate free radical levels. This is the mechanism the research is built around, and it is why so many people take MB for focus, mental clarity and steady daytime energy.
What the research does and does not show
Methylene Blue has been studied in humans and in the lab for well over a century, and it is one of the most examined molecules of its kind. Most of the work on cognition and mitochondrial function is early stage: small studies, animal models and laboratory work. It is genuinely promising and it is genuinely unfinished. We are not going to tell you it does more than that.
